California reflection

We crammed a lot into just a few days. Sattui Winery, Carmel, San Francisco -- makes me tired just thinking about it.

I never tire of Carmel though. I always seem to find something different to see. For example, I don't remember seeing these shops with the crooked roofs. (Although, I'm sure they have always been there.)

On the way down we stopped for a picnic lunch at Sea Cliffs. We paid $6 to enter a state park but it was good for the day. From that point forward we could stop at any state park for free. Not bad.

On the way home we (my folks and ourselves) stopped and had dinner at Shadowbrook in Capitola. Wow! Great food and great evening views over a small pond (brook). The place served us the lamb, which wasn't bad. The place was just a bit loud. I'm not sure what it is these days. Every dinner place is so loud I can't talk to the people at my own table! I don't know, are the tables closer together these days, or do people talk louder? At Mustard Grill in Napa the problem was amplified by the tile floor. (Although the place gets a 4.5 star for food.)

We ate a lot and ate well.
