Yunnan shop owner

shop owner - Yunnan, China
Another quick sketch, this time done from a computer image. I shot this in China (Yunnan) from a local bus window while on the way to the grocery store. I'd rather sketch on location but this is the next best thing.

My goal is to fill up the Moleskine watercolor sketchbook I brought along on this trip. (A noble goal.) I'm also keeping a travel journal and a travel blog.

It's amazing that I get out at all!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! I am glad that A Writer's Book of Days resonated with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I would love to hear what other books you have acquired about travel journaling. It is truly a dream of mine to some major traveling - taking pictures and journaling as I go. I have really enjoyed Travel Writing by L. Peat O'Neil, but would love to read more on that topic.

Molly:

There are some great online sites on the subject. Go to travel.daveterry.net and click on the Resource tab.

I also list my two favorite books on the subject there too:

Writing Away: A Creative Guide to Awakening the Journal-Writing Traveler (Travelers' Tales) by Lavinia Spalding

Globejotting: How to Write Extraordinary Travel Journals (and still have time to enjoy your trip!) by Dave Fox

I'm currently in China for two months and have been taking pictures, journaling, and sketching. Great fun. I highly recommend it.

I hope you get to do some travel journaling soon!

Keep in touch.

OMG! It's Molly! I found 365 Journal Entries because I googled best journal pens and Dave has a post that he purchased one. (Hi Dave! Have no idea who you are, but you have the coolest of blogs ever. I am now a subscriber.)

Anyway, I see in the comment widget that Molly commented. I'm like that couldn't be the Molly I know, could it? It was! It's a small world.

Dave, love your sketches and look forward to seeing more. I've recently gotten turned on to journaling. Not sure where my adventure will lead, but your sketches inspire me to express. Thank you. :)
